Prevent the Spread

If you think you may have Monkeypox:

  • ISOLATE away from people and animals
  • CONTACT a provider to discuss testing (visit the testing page for more information). CALL FIRST rather than walking in to be seen.
  • AVOID sex or being intimate with anyone until you have been checked out by a healthcare provider.
  • AVOID sharing clothing, linens, etc. with others.
  • WEAR a mask and COVER any open lesions for your appointment.

Monkeypox spreads in different ways. The virus can spread from person to person through:

  • direct contact with the infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids
  • respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact, or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex
  • touching items (such as clothing or linens) that previously touched the infectious rash or body fluids
