Postmarking your Tax Payment
Your tax payment must be postmarked by the USPS by the due dates.
If you are dropping your payment in a mailbox in Bloomington, it will NOT be postmarked until it arrives in Indianapolis the next day OR LATER.
We highly recommend you enter the post office, stand in line, and get a hand stamp on your letter in several days preceding the due date.
The hand stamp will look something like this:
Note the postmark is the next day. This payment would have been late without the hand stamp. The due date for Fall 2017 was November 13.
Postage meter dates show the day postage was affixed to the envelope, not the date it was mailed. Therefore postage meter dates are not valid post marks.
