Rededication of the Alexander Memorial
Built-in 1928, this memorial recognizes all the service and sacrifices of those who have served in wars dating back to the Civil War. The memorial is named after Captain Williamson M. Alexander (1836-1921) and has his likeness on top of the tall obelisk shape. Cpt. Alexander fought in the civil war, before returning to Bloomington, where he worked on helping to restore and update the city and surrounding areas. This memorial is also named for those efforts and because he started to fundraising process prior to his death. The memorial turned 94 years old in June 2022.
