Indiana Geological & Water Survey

Kick-off the summer with a geology weekend at the Indiana Geological and Water Survey!

The IGWS will be celebrating the completion of our building's recent renovation with an Open House on June 3, followed by a Limestone Month Festival on June 4. Both events are free and open to the public. Parking information is available here.

Open House: Friday, June 3, 1-5 p.m.

  • Lightning talks from IGWS scientists
  • Lab tours and demonstrations
  • Learning Lab tours

Learning Lab Opening (extended hours for teachers): Friday, June 3, 4-6 p.m.

  • Tour the new open-collections learning center
  • Pull open drawers to discover over 2,000 rock, mineral, and fossil specimens

Limestone Month Festival: Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Celebrate Limestone Month and our nation's favorite, Hoosier-born building stone
  • Activities from Visit Bloomington, Monroe County Parks and Recreation, Artisan Experience, WonderLab, and more
