NOTICE FROM BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Based on the advice of the Monroe County Health department and guidance from the Governor, the Indiana Public Access Councilor, and the CDC; Monroe County Government’s buildings are closed but we continue to meet the needs of our community. The Governor’s executive order allows for electronic/phone participation of the Board of Commissioners and County Council with only one member physically present and other members may participate by phone or other electronic means. The meetings themselves and/or minutes from the meetings will be available to the public on this website.
The current buildings are closed: Charlotte Zietlow Justice Center, Monroe County Government North Showers Building, Curry, Fiscus, Johnson Hardware (Probation/Voter Registration), Health, and the Historic Courthouse.
Although our buildings are closed to the public, each department is following a Continuity of Government Operations plan. If you need to contact a department that is closed to the public, please email or telephone the department. If your phone call is not answered, you will receive a response to your voicemail. The Recorder, Assessor, Treasurer, and the Building, Planning, and Highway departments continue to improve their processes to ensure services are provided to our county.
Monroe County Government is open. The Board of Commissioners made the difficult decision to close a number of county buildings to protect the health and welfare of our employees and the community, while still providing essential services. Each Department's homepage will provide updated information on available services and relevant contact information.
