The Monroe County Health Board presented the recommended revisions to the smoking ordinance to include ENDS to the County Commissioners meeting on 2/17/17. The result was 2 votes against and one abstention. Click here for a link to the news story from the Herald Times:

The Monroe County Board of Health is concerned about Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) including e-cigarettes (What are ENDS?). View the MCHD statement on Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems and the Data on Secondhand Exposure from ENDS.

At the July 15th, 2016 Health Board meeting, Health Department staff provided input on including Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) in Chapter 370 "Smoking in Public Places" (See recommended revisions here).  Following the meeting, a survey was posted to gather public comment as to the safety of ENDS.  The following is a summary of the results of that survey:   ENDS Survey Results


The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) finalized a rule that extends its regulatory authority to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, and hookah and pipe tobacco, as part of its goal to improve public health.
