Monroe County Pretrial Release Pilot Project Program
The Monroe County Pretrial Release Pilot Program was started on October 3, 2016. Eleven Indiana counties (including Monroe County) volunteered to serve as pilot sites for the Indiana Pretrial Release Pilot Project. The purpose of this program is to improve pretrial practices in Monroe County and across the state by considering a defendant’s risk assessment rather than their ability to pay a monetary bail. The risk assessment is used to assist the court in determining a defendant’s likelihood of reoffending while their case is pending and their likelihood of failing to appear for future court dates.
