Seeking Public Input: Launch of a New Project Website to Capture Public Input

April 21, 2016—Monroe County, IN— A new website is now available online to offer local residents a simple way to provide public input. Sound off with your ideas about land use planning in Monroe County! Do you have ideas to contribute about the location of homes or apartments in the unincorporated areas surrounding the City of Bloomington? How about ideas for locating new stores or businesses? Are there any other activity spaces you envision for our area?

The Planning Department has recently launched a new online civic engagement project to foster public involvement in the County’s ongoing long range planning process. The purpose of this online engagement is to capture public opinion and to strengthen the County’s Urbanizing Area Plan on topics such as your place of work or business, local land use opportunities, and housing.

Using a two-minute survey in combination with the Granicus website, we hope to better understand resident values and ideas. This information will guide planning policies for determining acceptable mixed uses (or restrictions), building and landscape design, connecting trails and public facilities, and much more. Please offer your ideas and suggestions on this new website for your voice to be heard!  Be sure to check back regularly as new content will be added covering multiple areas of interest.

If you would like to be more involved in the planning process, please join us for our public open house on May 11th from 6-8PM at Highland Park Elementary (900 S Park Square Dr, Bloomington, IN 47403) in the Cafeteria. For other Monroe County Planning documents, check our

website, or call (812) 349-2560.
