Past Stormwater Events

  • Bugfest. June 2017. Monroe County Stormwater Program participated in Bugfest to discuss aquatic insects with the public. Bugfest is an annual celebration of insects and their relatives!

  • SNAYL (Sustaining Nature and Your Land) Day. June 2017. Monroe County Stormwater Program participated in SNAYL to discuss rain gardens and other green infrastructure projects with residents.

  • MCCSC Afterschool Program. Fall 2016-Spring 2017. Monroe County Stormwater Program was a community partner in the MCCSC Afterschool Program for the 2016-2017 school year. Students learned about stormwater pollution, water quality testing, water conservation, and other water related topics.

  • Monroe Lake Cleanup. September 2016. Monroe County Stormwater Program, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Hoosier National Forest,  U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Hoosier Outdoor Writers, Lake Monroe Marina, J.L. Waters, Monroe County Solid Waste, and the Lake Monroe Boat Rental participated in a volunteer day to help clean up Monroe Lake. A record setting 95 volunteers showed up to help. As a thank you to the many volunteers, the day ended with a free BBQ.

The Monroe Lake Shoreline Clean-up was recognized with both a Regional and National Volunteer Award from the U.S. Forest Service!
