Volunteer Opportunities 2015

  • Leonard Springs Nature Day: Teach area sixth grade students about our natural heritage through multiple stations, including karst, creeks, wetlands, forests, and soils. Visit the Bloomington Parks & Recreation website for more details. The spring dates are listed below. Volunteer shifts are from 9:15 AM to 2:15 PM.   • Earth Week Clean Up with the City of Bloomington: 

    • Sunday April 19, 2015. Celebrate Earth Day by participating in the Lower Cascades Creek Trail clean up. Bags and gloves will be provided. 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Lower Cascades Park, 2851 N. Old State Rd. 37, meet at the Waterfall Shelter. For details about this event or to register, click here.

    • Thursday, April 23, 2015. Volunteer to help keep Griffy Lake clean and healthy. Bags, boats and gloves will be provided. 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. Griffy Lake Nature Preserve, 3300 N. Headley Rd. For more details about this event or to register, click here.

  • Bryan Park Creek Invasive Species Removal. Starting Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Help maintain native plants success by participating in the monthly removal of invasive plants and collecting native plant seeds. 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Bryan Park, 1100 S.
