All NEW Septic Permits issued in Monroe County are required to have a Soil Analysis done by a Certified Soil Analyst describing the proposed site and the soil. Understanding the soil will aid in determining the ability of the soil to handle the introduction of wastewater. It will also aid in the decisions made in reference to the appropriate type of septic system required for the given soil and site.
At an additional fee, Monroe County Health Department does employ its own Staff Certified Soil Analyst, James "Jim" Brown. You can contact Jim directly at 349-2897.
