Members of the Monroe County Health Department Wastewater Division advise, inspect and approve the installation of ALL Septic Systems in Monroe County.
Of the inspections conducted, many deal with the repair of existing systems. The repairs can be the result of a septic failure due to damage to the septic field or a holding tank. Also replacement of an old abandoned site may require a new system.
The two major reasons for failure of an existing septic system in Monroe County are attributed to either age or abuse. Abuse of a septic system is an undersized system with over utilization or an injection of water to the field.
When purchasing a home in Monroe County, be sure that the septic field is sized by the number of bedrooms in the home.
An Application for a Septic Permit must be completed by the homeowner when a system needs to be installed or replaced.
NOTE: Fees for Repair or New Septic System Applications are DUE at the time you submit your application for requested services.
