Storm Water Advisory Committee

General Information

The Storm Water Advisory Committee was established in April 2009 to advise the Storm Water Management Board regarding the establishment of a storm water utility.

A storm water utility would provide a funding mechanism for maintaining and improving storm water infrastructure in Monroe County.

The goals of the storm water program are:

  • to ensure that Monroe County's municipal water is safe to drink
  • to ensure that Monroe County's lakes and streams are fishable and swimmable

If a volume of drinking water equivalent to that contained in an Olympic sized swimming pool were to become contaminated with just one pint of oil it would be undrinkable.
