Day Trips
We have day trips each year to various historical, educational, and fun places in our region.  To register for any trip or for more information, please call Monroe County Parks and Recreation at 349-2800. Our day trip brochure and registration form is available online at www.karstfarmpark.com

French Lick Casino
Join us for our day excursions to the casino at French Lick, Indiana. Sit back, relax and plan your strategy as we provide transportation to and from the casino. Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 8:45 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m. Lunch is on your own at any of several dining options at the casino.              Pre-registration is required and seating is limited.

Indiana Flower and Patio Show
March 16

Join us for the redesigned Indiana Flower and Patio Show featuring gardens, landscapes, experts & ideas! The show features over 30 gardens/landscapes created by Indiana's premiere landscapers and experts. Food & beverages are available for purchase at the show.  Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 9:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Indianapolis Museum of Art & Lilly House
April 7

One of the 10 largest art museums in the U.S., the IMA gives you access to world-renowned collections. Stroll through the beautiful gardens of the Oldfields estate, a National Historic Landmark, and tour the Lilly House, a restored historical mansion. Lunch on your own is available at Nourish Cafe in the museum.  Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 10:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway
May 21

May 21st is "Fast Friday" at the track, the final day of practice before qualifications. Watch the on-track activities, shop at the many retail stands, or tour the museum (on your own, $3 admission fee). Lunch is on your own at your choice of food vendors.  Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 9:00 a.m. and return at 5:00 p.m.

Lake Monroe Cruise

(rain date: June 17)
Tool around Lake Monroe with us on a beautiful summer day! We'll provide lunch, beverages & snacks. Enjoy the ride on a large 35' double-decker pontoon (complete with shade & restroom facilities) and take in the gorgeous scenery that makes Lake Monroe such a popular destination with recreation enthusiasts of all ages. Meet at Fourwinds Marina Rental Dock (north parking lot & dock, next to resort's beach) at 8:45 a.m.; the cruise leaves dock at 9:00 a.m. and returns at 1:00 p.m.

Indianapolis Indians Baseball Game
July 21 

Watch the Indians take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, a farm team of the world champion Philadelphia Phillies. Root, root, root for the home team at Indianapolis's beautiful Victory Field. Game time is 1:00 p.m., so we'll be there in plenty of time for you to get your hotdogs and peanuts and settle into your seat! Price includes transportation and admission to the game. Lunch is on your own. Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 11:00 a.m. and return at 6:00 p.m.

Indiana State Fair
August 11

Join us for a day at the fair! Sample the classic culinary treats such as corn-on-the-cob, elephant ears and pork tenderloins, or throw caution to the wind and try a deep-fried twinkie! Celebrate down-home Indiana culture and visit the animal barns and agricultural displays, or peruse the many booths and exhibits. Lunch is on your own at your choice of dining options - don't forget the lemon shake-up!  Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 8:30 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Amishville
September 9

Get a taste of Amish and Mennonite culture as take a guided tour of Amish areas around Montgomery, Indiana. Visit country stores and purchase goods not available in "modern" stores. Price includes lunch in an Amish restaurant. Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 8:30 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Covered Bridge Festival
October 14

We'll visit Bridgeton, Indiana during their annual Covered Bridge Festival. Enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves as you visit the craft barns, country stores, and of the course the Bridgeton Roller-Grist Mill, the oldest continually operating mill in the Midwest. Lunch is on your own at one of the area's restaurants or food courts. Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 8:30 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Circle Center Mall
December 1

With  more than 100 shopping and dining options, Circle Center Mall in downtown Indianapolis will provide you with more than enough choices to finish off that Christmas shopping list! Take a break from shopping and enjoy live entertainment in the Arts Garden. Lunch on your own at your choice of many dining establishments. Meet the bus in the parking lot of KMart West (behind Bob Evans Restaurant) at 9:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Stanford Community Seniors
3rd Fridays of the month
Time:  12:00 p.m.
Location: Karst Farm Park Commons (June & July meet at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Endwright Rd.)
Dues: $1 per year
Anyone can join, regardless of residency. Members enjoy a potluck lunch at noon, followed by announcements and meeting, then short entertainment or educational program. Contact Marcella Paul at 825-2631.

Stretch-N-Flex
Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 11:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Location: Unionville Senior Center

What: Stretching exercises that can be done in a chair to music.

Senior Expo
May 7
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Location: Twin Lakes Recreation Center

Fee: FREE!
Includes live entertainment, free health screenings, and exhibitors with information about products and services available to Monroe County seniors and their families. Visit our booth to learn more about our day trips and other adult programs.
