Emergency Management means
the preparation for and the coordination of all emergency
functions other than functions for which military forces or
other federal agencies are primarily responsible, to
prevent, minimize and repair injury and damage resulting
from disasters.
(IC 10-4-1-3-1) Monroe County Extension provides
educational programs and materials that focus on the
specialties of Land-Grant Universities: Consumer and
Family Sciences; 4-H and Youth Programs; Agriculture and
Natural Resources; Leadership and Community Development.
The mission of the Monroe County Health Department is to promote the best
achievable scope and quality of health services for the public. The health of
every citizen is fundamental to their personal happiness and
well being, and is essential to the security and prosperity of the community, state, and nation. Parks and
Recreation is now located at One City Centre
The Monroe
County Parks and Recreation Department exists to provide
quality parks, recreation and educational programs,
promote appreciation of environmental and cultural
resources, and preserve green space.
The Land Ordinance of 1785, as adopted by the Continental
Congress, signaled the commencement of the Rectangular
Public Land Survey System as a means of dividing
federally-owned land for transfer of ownership to the
public.

The Veterans' Affairs Department serves the veterans,
veterans' dependants and veterans' survivors of Monroe County.
Indiana law
IC 24-6-3-3 decrees "The board of commissioners of every county of thirty
thousand (30,000) populations or more shall, and the board of commissioners of
any county of less than thirty thousand (30,000) population may appoint a county
inspector of weights and measures.
